The purpose of the
Division of Natural and Behavioral Sciences/Mathematics
is to provide academic and technical training in the use
of the scientific method and formal, logical, deductive
reasoning. The Division provides guidance and support in
the development of graduates possessing professional
skills and ethics that will enable them to become
productive and informed citizens in their chosen fields
and in the global community.
The Division embraces
the following values:
1. To encourage
among students, faculty, and staff academic excellence,
individuality, creativity, professionalism, and
community awareness, and
volunteerism within the disciplines.
2. To foster
the increased representation of minority women in the
disciplines of the
Division.
3. To produce
graduates who are capable of scientific reasoning, who

academic and professional skills, and who strive to
attain graduate and/or
professional degrees in their areas of study.
4. To instill in the
students a thirst for life long learning.

graduates who are capable of using formal, logical,

quantitative methods.
The vision of the
Division of Natural and Behavioral Sciences/Mathematics
is to continue to be an academic leader in its
disciplines among undergraduate institutions educating
minority women in the United States through excellence
in teaching and research, progressive curriculum, and
enhanced student success.

Dual Degree Programs
Dual Degree
Program in Engineering
This is a program
in partnership with North Carolina A & T State
University (NCA& T). In one curriculum, the student
earns a B.S. degree in chemistry from Bennett College
and a B.S. degree in chemical engineering from NC A &
T. In another curriculum, the student earns a B.S.
degree in mathematics from Bennett College and a B.S.
degree in either mechanical or electrical engineering
from NC A & T. The program is a five year program.
Pre-Chiropractic Program
Students earn a
B.S. degree in biology from Bennett College and a Doctor
of Chiropractic degree from Life University. The first
three years of the program are at Bennett College.
Upon admission to Life University, the student completes
the senior year for the B.S. degree in biology in the
Doctor of Chiropractic program and can continue to study
for the Doctor of Chiropractic Degree.
Special
Programs
2 Plus 2 Nursing Program
The first two
years of study are at Bennett College. During the
second year, the student applies for admission to the
Howard University Division of Nursing. If accepted, the
student continues to study at Howard University for the
B.S. degree in Nursing.
