How We Work With Students
- Each student advised at Bennett College is assigned to a specific advisor, based on the student's declared major
- Academic advising is mandatory at Bennett, which means that each student must meet with her advisor before
registering for the next semester
- Advising is more than registration, however. We encourage students to develop an ongoing relationship with their
advisor, and we recommend 2-3 appointments each semester. At the beginning of each semester, AA mails a letter to each
student's residing address, outlining the advising and registration timeline and encouraging the student to schedule an
appointment
- During their appointments, advisors talk with students about adjustment to college, study skills and habits, majors, course selection, and career exploration, among other things. Advisors also often make referrals to other campus
resources, such as the Career Center, Financial Aid, Job Fairs, and the Health/Counseling Center
