The Pioneer Cohort of Scholars, Senior Fellows,

and Collectors Spring Term 2006

Spring Term 2007 Schedule (PDF)

In Spring Term 2006, an intrepid group of Bennett Belles became the Pioneers of The New Academy; an innovative College-wide, interdisciplinary Learning Community at Bennett College for Women.  Together with, and under the guidance of, a highly-motivated and talented crew of Faculty (called Senior Fellows and Collectors), these Belles began to chart a new chapter in Bennett’s heralded record of student-focused teaching and learning.  Representing nearly every Departmental major field of study at the College, these pioneers took up the demanding challenges of Socratic-based seminars and Oxford Writing Tutorials.  With a curriculum anchored in an unusually diverse selection of Great Books raising fundamental and controversial issues about the Western Tradition and the African Diaspora, these pioneers piloted a new way of engaging universal themes about Knowledge, Love, and Justice.  Their names merit citation, and recognition.
