
The 2010 NSF Summer Academy June 12 – July 17, 2010
Bennett College for Women invites you to join us for a
memorable five weeks of study and adventure. The National Science Foundation (NSF) Summer Academy offers you the opportunity to earn up to seven college credits distributed among math and science courses. The program includes workshops, field trips, and an introduction to the exciting field of computational science.
Academy Objective
Prepare students, through course work, enrichment activities,
computer projects, and laboratory experiences, for success in first-year mathematics and science courses.
Important Information
Program Date: June 12 – July 17, 2010
There is no charge for the program.
Expenses for room and board, textbooks, and instructional costs are covered by the NSF HBCU-UP Computational
Science Project.
Student Eligibility
For Admission to the program, the student must have:
- been confirmed for enrollment at Bennett College for Fall 2010, or status as a rising high school senior
- an interest in majoring in biology, chemistry, mathematics, or computer science
- a 3.0 or higher high school grade point average and 960 or higher SAT score
- U.S. citizenship or permanent residency

- complete an application form
- write an essay describing why you would like to join this program
- submit your high school transcript
- have two recommendation forms completed and sent to our office
