3.4.11 Academic program coordination

For each major in a degree program, the institution assigns responsibility for program coordination, as well as for curriculum development and review, to persons academically qualified in the field. In those degree programs for which the institution does not identify a major, this requirement applies to a curricular area or concentration.

Judgment of Off-Site Review Committee

Non-Compliance

Comments of Off-Site Review Committee

The Off-Site Committee reviewed the list of program coordinators and their qualifications and concluded that the college had appointed well-qualified faculty with one exception, namely, the major in Special Education. It appeared that no one was listed for that curricular area.

Program development and review as well as oversight of each major lie with these coordinators and the faculty in each department.

Bennett Focused Response

The referenced position in Special Education was vacant at the time of the off-site review.  A search committee was formed and candidates identified with proper credentials.  The committee successfully identified and retained a candidate for the position.  Please see the Faculty Credentials of the candidate.
