The college has a long-established faculty development policy which has been supported since 2005 with institutional funds raised through targeted fundraising. The college also partners with other institutions, pursues grants, and grant study leaves (for faculty completing the terminal degree) to provide additional opportunities for faculty development.

The comprehensive development strategies begin with orientation and mentoring of new faculty.  Then funding is made available on an annual basis for peer-reviewed projects. The Faculty Development Committee and the division chairs help with the decision-making relative to faculty development. 
While documentation of opportunities and funding for faculty development were provided as described above, the Off-Site Committee was unable to locate evidence to verify that the faculty actually engaged in ongoing development activities (e.g. reports on professional activities from faculty or reports to the Board of Trustees listing such activities.)

Bennett Focused Response

Bennett College has a well-established Faculty Development Program operating continuously since 1983, which helps Bennett faculty to develop as teachers, scholars and practitioners. This comprehensive program is supported by a variety of grants and institutional funds, including institutional funds acquired through a 2005 fundraising gala.  The faculty development activities of the College are developed and managed by the Faculty Development Committee of the Faculty Senate

In response to the Off-Site Committee, evidence to verify that faculty has engaged in ongoing development activities is presented in the following reports (Faculty Development Report, October 2007, Faculty Development Report, June 2007)
