Darren Livingston, MSW, LCSW-A - Clinical Counselor - - 336.517.2363

The Counseling Center gives students a safe, relaxed and confidential environment to work through individual challenges and stressors. The goal is to provide quality counseling and mental health services to enhance personal, social, academic and intellectual growth. The Center works with students to help improve self-awareness, gain independence and skills to handle difficult situations.

Services include assessment, individual counseling for short-term and long-term needs, support specialty groups (according to the interest and needs of students) crisis intervention, psychological consultation, outreach, peer education programs, and personal growth workshops. Professional referrals and resouces are available for needs beyond services that the Center provides.

Bennett College has established an Emergency protocol for any student that is in need of psychiatric evaluation or hospitalization. All faculty, Campus Safety officers, Resident Directors and staff are aware of this protocol. If you are under psychiatric care before arriving to campus it is imperative that you notify the Director of Counseling so that you will have the best care while away from home. Please include documentation of psychiatric diagnosis and medication in the Health Records that you will submit before coming to campus.

The Counseling and Health Centers ensure confidentiality. This means that information shared between student and counselor cannot be released to anyone, including family or college, without consent of student. The only time confidentiality can be released is if a student is in danger of harming herself or others.
