It’s not everyday that former students get to impact their alma mater the way Audrey Demps Franklin ’72 has effected Bennett College. For the past 10 years as Executive Director of Alumnae Relations, Franklin has kept alumnae informed about campus goings-on and initiatives, encouraged them to support Bennett financially and otherwise and ensured that current Belles embrace Bennett while fully grasping the importance of giving back. Bennett Sisters! We are now creating Bennett College logo license plates! As Alumnae we will be able to show our school pride and create more financial opportunities for future Belles. Each state has certain guidelines we must follow, however I will work with your Regional Coordinators and/or Chapter Presidents to assist with the process. North Carolina (NC), Maryland (MD), and Washington, DC (DC) are currently in the first phase to receive plates. The NC, MD, DC deadline is November 30, 2018. The Bennett College National Alumnae Association (BCNAA) is a finalist for National Alumni Association of the Year in a contest sponsored by The HBCU Digest, an online magazine that caters to the country’s Historically Black Colleges and Universities. Bennett is competing against Alabama A&M University in Huntsville, Alabama, North Carolina Central University in Durham, Spelman College in Atlanta and Texas Southern University in Houston for the award. The HBCU Awards are the first and only national awards ceremony honoring individual and institutional achievement at HBCUs throughout the country.
