A Prayer for Your Journey

Bennett College Commencement
Saturday, May 9, 2020
God, You have been so good. You have preserved Your daughters for this mo-ment. Her robe represents her armor, protecting her from want; her cap is a helmet which guards against arrogance, ignorance, and pride; Let her degree serve as a witness to Your grace and a road map enfolding the path You have set for her. Now God, please cloak Your daughter with dignity, wrap her in Your peace, and fill her with confidence and heighten their discernment. Strengthen each Belle to stand up for what is right at all times, even if she must stand alone. Thank you for allowing the Bennett family to play a role in Your plan. We now send these young women forth into the world You have equipped them for.
My Bennett sisters, please receive these words of David adapted from Psalm 20: May the Lord answer you when you are in distress; may the name of the God of Jacob protect you; May God send you help from the sanctuary and grant you support from His heavenly home. May God remember all your sacrifices and accept all your offerings. May God give you the desire of your heart and make all your plans succeed. We will shout for joy when you are victorious and lift up our banners in the name of God. May God grant all your requests. Some trust in their own under-standing; we will trust in the name of the Lord our God. May God answer us when we call. AMEN.
“God is within her; she will not fall.”
Psalm 46:5
