There is currently no cure for COVID-19. Researchers are making strong headway on a vaccine that could be available for some populations by the end of 2020. However, everyone will not be eligible to receive it right away. Until the virus is fully in check, it is critical that we remain diligent about self-protection and self-care.
While some people suffer severe and long-term effects of COVID-19 infection, many are able to recover from the virus. Follow your doctor’s advice for how to treat symptoms and be diligent to avoid exposing and infecting others.
- Stay home. Avoid being out in public.
- Separate yourself from others who live with you.
- Wear a mask to protect others. If they also wear a mask, they are increasingly protected.
- Cover your coughs and sneezes with a tissue and clean your hands right away.
- Avoid sharing items with other people in your home or at the office
- Use (and wash) your own dishes. Do not leave dishes for others to use.
- Monitor your symptoms carefully. If you start to have difficulty breathing or if you are worried about your health, call your doctor.
- If you need medical care. Call the doctor before visiting.
