Until further notice, the campus is closed to students and faculty; all but essential personnel are asked to work remotely. We strongly encourage everyone to avoid coming on campus unless absolutely necessary—including visitors, vendors and others. It will be the College’s policy to forbid activities that would result in crowded environments, being in enclosed spaces with others, being in close physical contact, and/or spending extended periods of time with others.
Protect Yourself and Others
People of color have been disproportionately affected by COVID-19. As a historically Black college with a student, faculty and staff population made up predominately of people of color, we are acutely aware of the impact of such disparities. We urge our campus family and surrounding community to take the utmost care to protect against virus.
Until further notice, it will be the College’s policy to forbid activities that would result in crowded environments, being in enclosed spaces with others, being in close physical contact, and spending extended periods of time with others.
We strongly urge everyone to follow the safety practices based on protocols outlined by the CDC:
- Wear a mask while on campus.
- Avoid close contact—defined as being within 6 feet for 15 minutes or more.
- Be extra cautious if you have one of the health conditions that make you more vulnerable to the effects of the virus. These include asthma, diabetes, heart disease, sickle cell disease, obesity, cancer, or other conditions listed here.
- Do not assume immunity based on age. While early reports indicated that young people are not at as great a risk, there have been cases of children and young adults contracting the virus.
