The Bennett College Department of Journalism & Media Studies will host its 4th annual Black History Media Festival on February 22nd and 23rd. The event will feature a Student Media Challenge on Friday and a banquet hosted by the Triad Association of Black Journalists (TABJ) on Saturday.
The Student Media Challenge will begin Friday at 9:00 a.m. in the JMS Building. Participating students will receive training and mentorship for their project from media professionals in the area. Students will then work individually or in teams to produce a short media project related to an assigned black history theme. The projects will be due at 6:00 p.m and screened at 8:00 p.m in the Global Learning Center. All participants will be invited to Saturday’s banquet, and winning entries will receive Amazon Gift Cards.
On Saturday, the Triad Association of Black Journalists will host a banquet at 6:00 p.m. in the Global Learning Center. Guests will include other regional chapters of the National Association of Black Journalists, participating students and invited guests of the Bennett College JMS Department. The TABJ will present awards to honor outstanding media professionals in the area.
