Julia Yancey ’17 – Nicosia, Cyprus

The fall semester of my junior year, I was blessed with the opportunity to travel abroad in Cyprus. This was something I always anticipated doing since I was a child. The world outside of the U.S. was new to me and very exciting. I felt like a modern-day explorer setting out to really live life and see the entire world.
While Cyprus is a small island, this country is beautiful! The food is amazing and very fresh. The weather is perfect and for 25 euros you can do homework on the beach in the middle of November.
As a biology major, I continued to study science and was given the task to provide nutritious meal plans for the dance majors at the University of Nicosia. Upon my experience studying abroad I developed a special interest in nutrition. This class showed me the true importance of eating healthy and exercising.
I had such an amazing experience studying in Cyprus. I would encourage all Bennett Belles to have at least one global experience in their college career.
As an alumna, I am so glad I was able to travel abroad and have a once in a lifetime experience.
