The fall semester of my junior year, I was blessed with the opportunity to travel abroad in Cyprus. This was something I always anticipated doing since I was a child. I studied abroad in Nicosia, Cyprus and attended the University of Nicosia. I joined this program through Global Semester that provides multiple program units that are in Argentina, China, England, France, Spain, Italy, and Greece. The application process and signing up for classes was easy and the staff was willing to work and walk with me throughout the process. The cultural in Cyprus is wonderful, and food is rich and amazing. The program provided student housing next to the institution and roomed with other students in the program. I chose Africa as a destination to travel to understand the South African economy, history, social and economic injustices from an international business stand point. I wanted to step outside of my confront zone and to learn the history of a country one on one from a local citizen’s perspective. During my spring semester of 2019, I was able to study abroad in Santiago de Chile. It was my first time abroad! During my time in this beautiful country, I was able to cross many things off my bucket list! I was also able to make lifelong friendships with fellow women of color in the program. I was also afforded the opportunity to make lasting relationships with many Chileans, while also gaining a second family!
