Waynisha Gaston – Johannesburg, South Africa
I chose Africa as a destination to travel to understand the South African economy, history, social and economic injustices from an international business stand point. I wanted to step outside of my confront zone and to learn the history of a country one on one from a local citizen’s perspective. Books or movies could have never given me the experience I have always wanted to have or do the continent of South Africa justice for all the opportunities it had to offer to my classmates and I. Our lives had truly changes and I enjoyed every moment.
Bennett College students should study abroad in the future because they will gain historical knowledge on a local level, gain global awareness, and be give the tools to be ambassadors advocating for study abroad in that county. Students who are exposed to these opportunities will be more culturally sensitive, engaged and informed.
