As the world gears up for Super Bowl LIX, Bennett College celebrates Trustee Madieu Williams, whose legacy on and off the field exemplifies leadership, excellence, and service.
Spending nine years in the NFL, Madieu was a team captain and perennial starter for the Cincinnati Bengals, Minnesota Vikings, San Francisco 49ers, and Washington Football Team. His impact extended far beyond the game—earning him the 2010 Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award, the league’s highest honor for community service and philanthropy.
This year, during Super Bowl week, he was invited back as part of the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Circle of Honor, which brings together past recipients and nominees who have demonstrated an unwavering commitment to giving back. This prestigious recognition highlights the profound impact of his Madieu Williams Foundation, which has transformed lives through education and healthcare initiatives from the U.S. to Sierra Leone.
Beyond his NFL career, Madieu is a dedicated scholar. He holds an undergraduate degree in Public Health from the University of Maryland, a graduate degree in Business Administration from the University of Maryland Global Campus, and a Juris Doctor from the University of Baltimore.
