Don’t miss today’s A.C.E.S. with special musical guest Constance Staley
Please make plans to attend A.C.E.S. on Thursday, September 20, 2018, during which you’ll learn about Bennett College’s Campus Ministry, run by Reverend Dr. Natalie V. McLean ’80, and be treated to the musical talents of senior Constance Staley! A.C.E.S. begins at 11 a.m. in the Annie Merner Pfeiffer Chapel. Below for your convenience, please find pertinent information.
Campus Ministry is one body with many members:
Belles of Harmony Gospel Choir (BOH) was organized when Pfeiffer Hall residents of the class of 1973 formed the Belles of Harmony. The choir sings at churches in Greensboro and other cities across the Eastern United States.
Student Christian Fellowship (SCF) was organized to promote and enhance spiritual growth and development, unity and sisterhood. The ministry develops community projects and relationships with other young women – on and off campus.
Spirit of David Dance Ministry (SOD) has a mission to share the Gospel of Christ through liturgical dance and mime.
United Methodist Students (UMS) was organized to be a part of the United Methodist Women to serve as a “community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand the concept of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.” Involvement with this group provides UM students with opportunities to attend conferences and to participate in worship and fellowship experiences. Young women will also have occasions to network with other college students, helping to bridge cultural, socio-economic and ethnic boundaries. You do not have to be a member of the United Methodist Church to participate in this ministry.
Campus Ministry (CM) Supporters – For those who cannot participate with Campus Ministry on a regular basis, CM Supporters offer their gifts as their time permits.
***Members of Campus Ministry will introduce their ministries, services and opportunities to the student body as they invite students to continue growing in their relationship with God through use of their gifts, fellowship and community engagement. The program features overviews of each ministry and special music by Constance Staley, the SGA Vice President. Following the program, students interested in becoming members of Campus Ministry will have the opportunity to sign up. We are especially excited over the possibility of reorganizing the Belles of Harmony Gospel Choir.
*On September 17, 2018, Faith Without Fear LLC and Interfaith Dialogue hosted an interest meeting in Player Hall to discuss the new offering available to students. The Interfaith Council at Bennett will be comprised of students who represent the diversity of faith tradition on campus with the goal to build interfaith understanding, cooperation and awareness on campus. They will organize events at which individuals of different traditions can socialize, engage in dialogue and serve their community together. Students will be instrumental in inviting peers to collaborate on the details of each activity, implement programs and assess the outcomes as avenues for leadership development.
