Bennett College Spring 2024 Honors Convocation will be held on Friday, February 9, to recognize and celebrate student academic achievements.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Honors Convocation is the ceremony that recognizes those students who have achieved academic excellence in their studies. The Bennett College<\/a> Community commends and celebrates these scholars as having upheld the College’s highest standards of intellectual performance and for their continued commitment to becoming leaders in their time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

New and transfer students will also be welcomed to the College through the Ceremony of Matriculation where new students will witness their names in the College Register.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Honors Convocation keynote speaker is Ms. Rachel Pridgen, Bennett College Executive Director of Student Experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Bennett College Honors Convocation will be in-person and will also be streamed at www.Bennett.edu\/LIVE<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ms. Rachel Pridgen joined the Bennett College community in July 2003 as Director of Campus Life. She previously served as Director of Campus Life and Student Activities. For more than twenty years she has dedicated herself to serving as a liaison and advocate for students. Before coming to Bennett College, she worked at St. Augustine’s College serving as an adjunct instructor in African History and World Civilizations. She also served as the Director of Housing, Assistant Director of Student Activities and Advisor for Miss Saint Augustine’s College.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From 1987-1992 Ms. Pridgen worked at North Carolina Central University and North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University teaching African American History, World Civilizations and U.S. History.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In her new position as Executive Director of Student Experience<\/strong>, she leads, trains and develops staff and students in residence life, campus life and leadership. She works closely with the Assistant Director of Student Experience and Dean of faculty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ms. Pridgen is a graduate of North Carolina Central University where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in U.S. History and a Master of Arts degree in African American history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2008 Ms. Pridgen answered the call to the ministry and preached her initial sermon at Grace AME Zion Church in Raleigh, North Carolina. She is currently a member of St, Mark AME Zion Church in Durham, North Carolina<\/a> where her brother, Rev. Julian Pridgen, Sr. is the Senior pastor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She is the daughter of the late Julian J. Pridgen and Esther Singletary Pridgen. The joy of her life is her family. She is the proud great auntie of Little Mister Jevonte Jones. She has dedicated her life to service of young people and enjoys working with young people.<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
