Her Story Abroad: Embracing New Cultures in Cyprus
I studied abroad in Nicosia, Cyprus and attended the University of Nicosia. I joined this program through Global Semester that provides multiple program units that are in Argentina, China, England, France, Spain, Italy, and Greece. The application process and signing up for classes was easy and the staff was willing to work and walk with me throughout the process.
The cultural in Cyprus is wonderful, and food is rich and amazing. The program provided student housing next to the institution and roomed with other students in the program. Student housing was amazing European apartments that had a full kitchen and beautiful view of the area. I roomed with another Bennett Belle and two other girls that attended different US colleges.
Additional to being an international student, I interned with “Hope For Children”- CRC Policy Center their “institution established on standards and principles of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and European Union Law.” I developed research on European children in the LGBTQ+ community and was a part of a development team.- I worked along with employers that are from different parts of the country that included Germany, Greece, Italy, Jordan, and more.
I highly encourage black students, mainly black women to gain an international experience and plan out your finances; it is possible.
