Event honors Bennett College’s historic role in the Civil Rights Movement as the College nears its Centennial
The International Civil Rights Center & Museum will host a special book reading, Q&A, and signing featuring Dr. Linda Beatrice Brown ’61, acclaimed author, educator, and Bennett College alumna, on Saturday, November 15, 2025, from 4:00–6:00 p.m.
Dr. Brown will share from the newly released second edition of her book, Belles of Liberty: Gender, Bennett College, and the Civil Rights Movement in Greensboro, North Carolina.
The work chronicles the pivotal role Bennett College women played in shaping the Civil Rights Movement—telling the story of young students and faculty whose courage and conviction helped ignite lasting change.
As Bennett College approaches its Centennial celebration, this event offers a timely reflection on the institution’s historic commitment to justice, leadership, and learning. It serves as an opportunity for students, alumnae, and the broader community to connect with Bennett’s enduring legacy through one of its most distinguished voices.
