A letter from President Dawkins regarding Hurricane Irma
Dear Bennett College Family:
As I am certain you are aware, The National Weather Service indicates North Carolina may be in the path of Hurricane Irma. Please rest assured that Bennett College has an emergency preparedness plan in place to ensure your safety should disaster strike.
I realize many of you may be monitoring TV news for the latest weather updates, but please go to our website, www.bennett.edu, for the latest information as it relates to our campus and what you should do. Additionally, if you haven’t already signed up for BelleAlert, please do so immediately by going to e2campus.net/my/bennett/signup.htm and follow the instructions. Even if you signed up in the past, it is a good idea to check periodically to ensure you are still active with the system.
There are things all of us can do to prepare for natural disasters. Some are obvious while others are not. To that end, please visit hurricaneville.com/safety.html. You may also want to review Bennett’s Emergency Response and Crisis Management Plan at bennett.edu/wpcontent/uploads/2016/06/Emergency_Response_Crisis_Management_Plan.pdf
I pray Hurricane Irma doesn’t pass through North Carolina; however, we must be prepared in case she does. To keep abreast of the storm, visit weather.gov/lwx/irmalwx.
Thank you,
Phyllis Worthy Dawkins, Ph.D.
President
