The United Women In Faith of the United Methodist Church is proud to host a commemorative service on Sunday, October 1st, 2023, at 3:00 pm in the Annie Merner Pfeiffer Chapel on the Bennett College campus.
Join us in commemorating the rich history and enduring partnership between Bennett College and the United Methodist Church as we celebrate the 150th anniversary of the College’s founding in 1873.
This special occasion will feature an array of performances and reflections, with one standout highlight being an original handbell composition titled “Ode to Bennett,” meticulously arranged by the talented Dr. Linda Parker. The composition, containing 150 notes in honor of Bennett College’s 150-year journey, will also incorporate harmonious elements of the Alma Mater and traditional song, Tell Me Why, with additional notes added to the harmony. The handbell choir, assembled under the expert guidance of Dr. Parker, will be composed of ringers from St. Stephens United Church of Christ, St. James Presbyterian Church, and Bennett College alumnae. The choir will be directed by Dr. Kevin Sloan, Minister of Music at St. Stephens, ensuring a harmonious and moving tribute.
