The Bennett College Tutoring Services Centers include the Curriculum Learning Center (CLC) and the Writing Center. Tutoring Services is committed to the success of every student. Face to Face academic support, drop-in tutoring, individual and small group tutoring, are available to ensure that students get the help they need and are able to meet their educational goals.
The Curriculum Learning Center
In 2018, The Curriculum Learning Center established partnerships with the Coordinator of the Bennett College Louis Stokes Alliances for Minority Participation (LSAMP) program, to increase STEM area tutoring services. Currently, CLC Peer Tutors, LSAMP Scholars, and CLC Professional Tutors conduct sessions in the Curriculum Learning Center, located in Catchings Complex, lower level, and other designated tutoring locations throughout the campus, during the weekdays, evenings, and weekends.
The Writing Center
The primary purpose of the Writing Center at Bennett College is to offer students a place where they can discuss their writing and writing processes with trained writing consultants. Everyone writes differently; therefore, the Writing Center tailors its help to each student’s needs. The Writing Center provides one-on-one consultation in preparing various kinds of written communication from all academic disciplines.
The Writing Center at Bennett College is located in Catchings Complex, lower level, and operates on the principle that the best writing comes from discussion, critical thinking, and revision. Writing consultants work with students, giving them the kind of feedback that writers need to make good choices. Writing consultants will not do writers’ work for them, but they will offer help in understanding and developing writing assignments.
The Writing Center supports the enhancement of writing by providing supplemental instruction and resources to help students become more confident, effective writers. Face to face and online appointments are available.
Tutoring Services Center’s Hours of Operation
