A native of North Carolina, Dr. Campbell received her BA in psychology from Winston-Salem State University. She earned her MA and PhD in the field of social psychology from the University of Delaware. Her basic research question addresses; What factors determine whether, in the face of perpetual threats posed by racism and racial discrimination, African Americans maintain positive psychological well-being, physical health, achieve success and reach personal goals, or adopt negative self-images and other destructive behaviors? This is studied through the lens of racial identity development, intersectionality, and contemplative practices, with an interest in college student success and satisfaction. She is a registered yoga instructor with Yoga Alliance and serves on the ethics committee. Dr. Campbell currently serves as the Faculty Senate President and Ex-Officio member of the Board of Trustees at Bennett College.
